National Real Estate Brokerage Brings its Listings to the Internet
The Situation
The Hoyt Matise Corporation is a national real estate brokerage with three generations of experience in all aspects of the service including mergers, acquisitions, and finance. As they have grown, the number of properties they represent has increased tremendously, and they needed a way to keep potential clients informed as their property listings changed. They established an online presence with a web site in June, 2001. This improved ability to reach their clients, exposed the limitations of not only their existing office computer systems, but also of the website itself.
The Challenge
Matise needed a way to quickly and easily update content on their website. Their existing configuration required them to call in specialized computer consultants every time they needed a change made on their website. Not only was this costly, but it was inefficient as well. In the real estate industry, having to wait several days for a property to be listed on your website can mean losing the sale to a competitor.
The Response
Dimension provided Matise with a solution that effectively solved all of these problems. First, their website was upgraded to have the flexibility of a database backend and the speed and security of Linux servers. Dimension created an easy-to-use "admin" utility allowing full control of the property listings on the website. This allowed them to make updates in-house without needing any knowledge of the nuts and bolts of web design. Clients are always treated to the most up to date listings.
Their office computer systems underwent a massive hardware upgrade. A network was installed and email addresses were issued to all employees. A document scanner was installed enabling them to quickly publish high quality content to their website.
A backup system was implemented for their office as well as their website. Monitoring of computer systems for security issues was initiated. These upgrades were designed to make Matise's computer systems more scalable, efficient, and stable. Because of this, Dimension will remain a core component of Matise for the forseeable future.
